Since first being recorded late last year in China, the Covid-19 coronavirus has spread around the world, and certain countries were hit with particular cruelty, including Italy, Spain, the UK and the US, although in it seems for now to have passed its peak. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) “During the post-peak period, pandemic disease levels in most countries will have dropped below peak observed levels. The post-peak period signifies that pandemic activity appears to be decreasing; however, it is uncertain if additional waves will occur and countries will need to be prepared for a second wave” (SOURCE: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK143061/). To that end, our individual task is to focus on prevention!
A healthy immune system is one way to give your body extra protection. Activation of our immune system occurs when the body recognizes anything that is foreign, such as an invading virus. “This often triggers a process called inflammation. One of the most powerful tools to combat inflammation comes not from the pharmacy, but from the grocery store” (SOURCE: https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/foods-that-fight-inflammation).
